Rangers launch investigation into takeover by Green
Rangers International Football Club on Monday said it was commissioning an independent examination into the takeover by Chief Executive Charles Green.
Rangers International Football Club on Monday said it was commissioning an independent examination into the takeover by Chief Executive Charles Green.
It comes after former owner Craig Whyte claimed that he was involved with Green's consortium when they purchased the business and assets of the club last summer.
Whyte's provided taped recordings of conversations involving himself, Green and Commercial Director Imran Ahmad.
The Rangers board is now investigating the allegations by Whyte, whose non-payment of tax forced the group into administration and subsequent liquidation.
"Mr. Green and Mr. Ahmad strenuously deny any wrongdoing and lawyers have been instructed by the Company to address these allegations," the London-listed company said in a statement.
"However, the directors believe that the review will help to ensure a swift conclusion to this issue. A further announcement will be made in due course."
