Five Premium Bonds holders win £100,000 after buying winning bonds this year - who won the jackpot?
NS&I has announced the winners of April’s Premium Bonds prize draw. Who won the £1 million jackpot and how can you find out if you scooped a prize this month?

Two lucky Premium Bonds holders have become millionaires overnight while many others have won some extra cash after National Savings and Investments (NS&I) drew April’s prize draw. This includes five winners who scooped £100,000 each, after purchasing their winning bonds this year.
The two new Premium Bonds millionaires picked this month are from South Yorkshire and Hertfordshire.
The winner from South Yorkshire is the owner of bond number 494WG724922 and holds a total of £43,165 in Premium Bonds. The winning bond was purchased relatively recently in March 2022.

The second winner from Hertfordshire holds 418AW560890 and has £50,000 exactly in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond was also purchased relatively recently in October 2020.
Meanwhile, five bondholders won £100,000 each, just months after buying the winning bond.
Among them were four who bought the winning bond in February this year, meaning April was the first month the bond was eligible for the prize draw, while the fifth bought it in January.
These winners are from Ealing, Somerset, Birmingham, Inner London and Cambridgeshire.
The two jackpot winners will have been paid a visit by Agent Million, a member of NS&I’s staff who has the enviable job of travelling across the country to notify jackpot winners of their newfound fortunes.
Agent Million’s identity is kept top secret to protect the identities of both the winners and employees.
If you have not been paid a visit by Agent Million, you could still be among more than 5.9 million people who have won a share of this month’s Premium Bonds prize pot - which exceeded £412 million.
All winning bonds were drawn by NS&I’s Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment (more affectionately known as ERNIE) from a pool of billions of individual bonds.
If you’re one of the winners of a high value prize, you can find out if you were lucky today. Otherwise, Premium Bonds holders can check if they were awarded smaller prizes tomorrow (2 April).
Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: "Huge congratulations to our winners in South Yorkshire and Hertfordshire – these April jackpots highlight the life-changing potential of Premium Bonds for savers everywhere.
"It's not just about the jackpot millionaires – this month, ERNIE awarded more than 5.9 million prizes worth over £412 million, giving many customers something to smile about.”

How to check if you’re a April NS&I Premium Bonds winner
You can check to see if you won a Premium Bonds prize from tomorrow (2 April).
To do this, you can use the online NS&I prize checker tool or the NS&I app (downloadable on iOS and Android) – just make sure you have your Premium Bonds number to hand. The tool also allows you to check winnings from previous draws.
You can also use an Amazon Alexa to check winnings going as far back as 1986.
Alternatively, you can write to NS&I at: NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB. It is important to include:
- Your name
- Current address
- Premium Bonds number
- Any previous addresses where you might have registered bonds
- Your signature
- You can also call NS&I for free on 08085 007 007, but you will only qualify for this method if you’re registered for phone or online banking with NS&I.
If you've invested in Premium Bonds for a long time, it's worth checking whether you may have forgotten to claim any prizes. According to NS&I, 2,547,426 prizes have been left unclaimed, worth over £97 million.
Unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes do not expire, so even if you have one left unclaimed from the 1950s then it is still worth checking.
How will my Premium Bonds prize be paid?
When you opened your account with NS&I you will have set a preference for how you would like any Premium Bonds prizes to be paid. If you opted for automatic payments then you will have your cash prize paid directly into your bank account. You could also have opted to have your winnings reinvested into Premium Bonds .
According to NS&I, over 90% of prizes are paid into winners’ bank accounts or automatically reinvested.
If you did not opt for either automatic payment or reinvestment, then you will receive a cheque. If you have moved home since buying your Premium Bonds then you should make sure that your address has been updated.
You can change your payment method on the NS&I website.
