Natasha Mooney is one of Australia's greatest wine-makers. A young, energetic and talented woman, her Fox Gordon brand has achieved near cult status in less than a decade. This M&S own-label wine is a very close relation to her Fox Gordon Abby viognier.
At a sub-tenner price, it is one of the finest value viogs on the planet. Made from 90% viognier and 'refreshed' with 10% Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc from the cool Mount Lofty area, this wine is lusty and luscious on the nose and palate, as you would expect for this variety, but it also carries a flick knife of acidity, in the crucial dribble of sauvignon, to bring your palate swiftly back to its senses.

There is another Tash trick, too: about 10% was barrel-fermented and an even smaller 5% of this elixir then spends five months in new, large oak barrels. This deftness of touch and sleight of hand adds the extra brilliance to the palate and aroma. Tash has great taste, and you will as well, when you drink this wine.
