Established in the UK in 1983 City Index has grown to be a leading spread betting, CFD, and Forex trading provider. The company is owned by IPGL, the investment brainchild of Michael Spencer, said to be the City's richest man.
In 2005 City Index acquired Finspreads, which itself was a leading spread betting provider. It then went on to acquire IFX Markets and FX Solutions to strengthen its position in the forex market.
