Who can you trust with your money now?

Few people seem to remember that all investments carry some level of risk. Even fewer realise that the scheme safeguarding their savings contains nowhere near enough money to cover UK bank deposits.

'If you understand a business perfectly and the future of the business, you would need very little in the way of a margin of safety,' said Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting in 1997.

He had first issued his famous dictum twenty years earlier. Buffett referred to it again in 2005.
