The Aprilia SRV850 is the world's fastest scooter, with a top speed of 120mph. This means it has "plenty in reserve even at motorway speeds, making it a realistic prospect for long-distance riding", says Kevin Ash in The Daily Telegraph. It's comfortable too, and good value, though lacks the handling precision of some rivals. Price: £7,799.
Suzuki Burgman 650
The Suzuki Burgman 650 has been around for years, says Kevin Ash, but it's still a good buy for comfort and storage there's a huge amount of space under the seats. Price: £8,175.
Yamaha T-Max
The Yamaha T-Max is "as close as you'll get to motorcycle handling in scooter form", says Motorcycle News. It can "tour, scratch and commute as good or better than many middleweight conventional bikes". However, it lacks the innovative features found on other superscooters. Price: £8,870.
