Symphony Environmental Technologies, a plastics specialist, has reported a small rise in revenues for the year ended December 31st. Revenues rose from £8.48m to £8.54m, while operating profit fell from £1.13m to £0.5m, hit by an increase in fixed costs. Basic earnings per share dropped from 1.02p to 0.42p. "During 2011 we strengthened the foundations for accelerated growth for both the short and longer term future of Symphony," the firm said.
Deltex Medical Group has reported that six hospitals within a primarily rural health authority in Canada audited the impact of introducing CardioQ-ODM to guide fluid management during bowel surgery. The audit showed improved outcomes for patients with reduced post-operative complications and a consequent 40% average reduction per patient in length of hospital stay. The project has since requested ongoing funding for the maintenance and expansion of the product.
