ViaLogy, a service provider to global oil and gas exploration and production companies, has completed a key demonstration project of it QuantumRD technology under contract with Chevron. QuantumRD was able to discern porosity, a key rock property in locating and identifying hydrocarbon deposits, where other techniques have not. The significance of this is that it could bring a new level of accuracy and predictive capability to hydrocarbon reservoir characterization.
Symphony Environmental Technologies, a plastics specialist, has reported a small rise in revenues for the year ended December 31st. Revenues rose from £8.48m to £8.54m, while operating profit fell from £1.13m to £0.5m, hit by an increase in fixed costs. Basic earnings per share dropped from 1.02p to 0.42p. "During 2011 we strengthened the foundations for accelerated growth for both the short and longer term future of Symphony," the firm said.
