Janet network upgrade contract goes to SSE
Utilities provider SSE has won the gig to provide 650 kilometres of fibre backbone to more than 30 sites connected to the Janet research and education network.
Utilities provider SSE has won the gig to provide 650 kilometres of fibre backbone to more than 30 sites connected to the Janet research and education network.
The 10-year contract is worth £30m to SSE subsidiary SSE Telecommunications, and will support the development of the next generation fibre network, known as Janet6, to be used by the research and education community across the UK.
"The Janet6 project will ensure that the UK stays at the forefront of research and education networking globally," said Jeremy Sharp, Head of Strategic Technologies at Janet.
