Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) has agreed with the Department of Mineral Resources to extend their consultation process by 30 days to allow them more time to reach a conclusion.

The subsidiary of Anglo American said it now expects to announce the outcome of the discussions during the week beginning May 6th.
The discussions are being conducted in order to ensure a safe environment for employees across the platinum industry, the group has previously said. Miners have held a number of strikes relating to pay and conditions in recent months.
The news prompted the share price to fall 2.11% to 1,575p by 12:55 on Tuesday.
