Wine of the week: A phenomenal bargain Burgundy
This wine will amaze you with its finesse, says Matthew Jukes.
2010 Moulin--Vent, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, Beaujolais, France (about £21.50, Hercules Wines of Sandwich, 01304-617100; The Wine Tasting Shop, 020-8616 8658; WoodWinters of Edinburgh and Bridge of Allan, 01786-834894).
I am obsessed with 2010 Burgundies, but as many of them have already been snapped up by my wise readers, after my en primeur focus a year ago, there are few cases to be found today. So, I have thought outside the box this week!
This is one of the finest wines from Greater Burgundy that I can remember. It is a 2010 and it's made by one of the most talented young men in France Thibault Liger-Belair (an aristocratic Obelix if you would like to form an image in your mind).

Thibault makes stunning Vosne-Romane, among other star wines, and I have recently picked him out as one of my ten Domaines of the year. This beauty comes from very old gamay vines in the noble Beaujolais Cru of Moulin--Vent and it's made in exactly the same way as a Grand Cru Burgundy.
It is very nearly drinking and on account of its postcode it is a phenomenal bargain. With another five years to run, this is a wine that will amaze you with its skill, finesse and sensuality. If you missed out on the 2010s first time around, do not miss out again!
