Ferrari’s fastest supercar
Ferrari's F12 Berlinetta is the old-school supercar that's red in tooth and claw.
The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is "the fastest and most powerful road car in the Prancing Horse's illustrious history", says Mark Tisshaw in Autocar. The 730bhp, 6.3-litre, V12-powered car replaces the Ferrari 599 and "ushers in a new generation of V12 engines that will include an all-new Enzo by the end of the year". The new engine takes the Berlinetta from rest to 62mph in just 3.1 seconds, to 124mph in 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of over 211mph.
But although the power has "increased dramatically" compared with the 599, says Tisshaw, fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions have decreased at a similar rate. Ferrari claims that the fuel economy has been improved over the 599's 15.8mpg combined figure to 18.8mpg, and carbon dioxide emissions have dropped from 415g/km to 350g/km.
The car is expected to cost about £250,000, but "for some people that will be a small price to pay for an old-school supercar red in tooth and claw", says Joseph Dunn in The Sunday Times. "Reports of the death of traditional supercars have been very much exaggerated."

The car was unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow, where Ferrari took deposits on around 360 new cars, reports Autocar. Deliveries will start at the end of the summer.
