More than half of the floor area at the Whiteley Shopping Centre in South Hampshire has now been let, British Land said.
The real estate investment trust, along with Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited (USS), is ploughing £64m into the development of the 300,000 square feet (sq ft) development. "Anchor tenants" include Marks and Spencer and Next.
The shopping centre, will comprise over 50 units totalling 242,000 sq ft of retail space and 1,136 free car park spaces.

Enabling works are currently nearing completion with main construction scheduled to begin on site in early 2012. Completion is projected for spring 2013.
