Cobham gets Boeing gas safety system order
Cobham, the defence technology supplier, has won a contract with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing to provide a gas safety system for the US Air Force's new tanker aircraft.
Cobham, the defence technology supplier, has won a contract with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing to provide a gas safety system for the US Air Force's new tanker aircraft.
By displacing fuel tank vapours, which could blow up, with nitrogen gas (that won't), the system will be a key feature of the new aeroplanes.
Boeing has a contract to supply 179 of the tankers, and each one will now include Cobham's so called on-board inert gas generating system, or OBIGGS for short..
