Cobham extends aviation contract with Santos
Defence, security and aviation technology group Cobham has won a six-year extension to its 'Fly-in Fly out' (FIFO) services contract with energy company Santos to the remote Cooper Basin area in southern Australia.
Defence, security and aviation technology group Cobham has won a six-year extension to its 'Fly-in Fly out' (FIFO) services contract with energy company Santos to the remote Cooper Basin area in southern Australia.
The contract, which now runs until 2018, is valued at over 50m Australian dollars (£31.5m). It will see Avro 99-seater RJ100 jets fly weekly from Adelaide to Santos's gas facilities at Moomva and Ballera, 800km north-east of Adelaide.
"This is a significant extension of one of Cobham's foundation FIFO routes in Australia.It strengthens and extends our 22-year relationship with Santos and we are delighted to provide what will be enhanced services to Santos and its people at Moomba and Ballera," said Vice President Peter Nottage.

The RJ100 jet, the fifth in Cobhams FIFO sleet of 20 aircraft, is said to be "ideally suited to the harsh conditions of the Australian outback due to its robust construction and exceptional hot weather performance capabilities."
