African oil producer Afren said combined end-year production at its Ebok, Okoro and Cte d'Ivoire operations has topped previous guidance.
The company said production at the Ebok field, off the coast of Nigeria, has been ramped up to a stabilised rate of around 40,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
"This marks one of the quickest independent developments of its scale in Nigeria to date," claimed Osman Shahenshah, Chief Executive Officer of Afren.

As a result of the increase in production, aggregate net working interest production attributable to Afren from the two Nigerian assets, Ebok and Okoro, plus the Cte d'Ivoire operations, has reached a rate of circa 55,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd). Back in November, the company said it was targeting a production rate of 50,000 boepd by the end of the year; it has been topping this level since December 19th.
In addition, gross production on the Ogini and Isoko fields off the coast of Nigeria has nearly doubled to circa 10,500 bopd from circa 6,000 bopd.
