Five questions for… Dhruvin Patel, founder, Ocushield
Ocushield develops and manufactures screen protectors for digital devices, such as smartphones and laptops.
What does your company do?
Ocushield develops and manufactures screen protectors for digital devices, such as smartphones and laptops. These block out the blue light emitted by the screens of such devices, which is known to disturb our sleep cycle and cause eye strain and fatigue.
What has been your company's greatest achievement so far?
We have been proud that our products are used and recommended by both the Wales International rugby team and West Ham United football club to help their players perform better on game days. The players for these teams say that it is easier to fall asleep after using Ocushield products.
What has been your biggest challenge?
It was hard work juggling the launch of the business while studying at City University and then during a period of doing full-time qualification work as an optometrist. It meant a great deal of working through lunches to answer customers' requests, as well as evenings spent arranging stock.
