America's Super Bowl, the annual final of the National Football League, is the second-biggest day for food consumption after Thanksgiving. Guacamole is traditionally included in the spread, say Jude Webber and Emiko Terazono in the FT.

Avocado consumption has rocketed in the past two decades. But President Trump could spoil the party in the years ahead. Mexican imports comprise 82% of US avocado consumption, and growers warn that any trade obstacles would have a major impact on US supplies, causing a big jump in prices and hitting demand.
