Bentley's epitome of British craftsmanship
The new Mulsanne - the first entirely Bentley-designed car for over 50 years - is a finely-crafted technological marvel.
The new Mulsanne is the first car designed and engineered entirely by Bentley for over half a century previous models were based either on Rolls-Royce designs or, more recently, those of the parent company Volkswagen. It's no surprise then, says Owen Ready in AutoTrader, that "Bentley has
gone to great lengths to ensure that the Mulsanne is the epitome of handcrafted British craftsmanship, as well as a 21st century technical marvel".
The 6.75-litre, twin-turbo-charged V8 engine is powerful yet remarkably efficient, and inside, "a world-leading, no-expense-spared multimedia system dominates", which includes a "personalised keyless entry system" that recognises your touch and will automatically adjust the radio and seat settings to your own specifications.

But the big question is, what is it like to drive? asks Dan Strong in AutoExpress. "In a word, it's unique. No other car blends the Mulsanne's extreme comfort with such agility and steering accuracy." Power delivery is "absolutely seamless", the 0-60mph sprint takes 5.1 seconds, and the top speed is 184mph. Overall, the new Mulsanne is "a great improvement on what went before", says Harry Metcalfe in Evo.
"It's more rewarding to drive quickly, beautifully built from the very best materials and a worthy flagship for Bentley."
Price: £220,000.
