Last week, Sir John Rose said he will retire as chief executive of Rolls-Royce next March after 14 years in the job. Non-executive director John Rishton, who currently runs Dutch retail group Royal Ahold, will take over. He had previously worked at British Airways and Ford.
Last month, Rolls-Royce won a $560m (£350m) order to provide engines for eight of German airline Lufthansa's planes. The Trent 700 engines will be used in Airbus A330 planes that operate under the Lufthansa and SWISS Airbus brands, following the German airline's takeover of Swiss International airlines.
The deal involves Rolls-Royce servicing the engines until 2012.
