The name might be a nod to the past, but the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is every inch a modern supercar, says AutoExpress. There have been improvements to the design, both inside and out. But the biggest change is in the way it drives. The UK versions of the car will feature a sports package called Z51 as standard, which gives you limited-slip differential, bigger wheels, tyres and brakes, and firmer suspension. This makes the Corvette more agile than its predecessors.
It's also faster. "Few cars at any price can keep up with the Corvette in a drag race. Capable of sprinting to 62 mph in under four seconds and then coming to a halt in just 33 metres, the Corvette is ferocious in a straight line but also remarkably controlled in sharp hairpins," says AutoExpress. By simultaneously improving refinement, performance and agility, the new Stingray is "a big step forward in the illustrious history of the Corvette. Subtle it isn't, and it still can't match European supercars for quality, but for those who want power and drama, it's perfect."
Those in search of the ultimate performance bargain will once again find the Corvette to be the undisputed champion, agrees Colum Wood on Autoguide.com you can't buy a faster car for the same money. The new Stingray's wild look, new luxury features and better feel behind the wheel show that Corvette has been paying attention to where it's been coming up short. This is the Corvette as it should be: "a precision performance machine with a luxury interior as well as world class power and handling".
