Friday preview: Leaving party for CEO of Spirit Pubs

With markets winding down ahead of the end of year holiday period, Friday is set to be even quieter than it usually is, leaving City professionals to catch up on their hospitality skills. Appropriately enough, therefore, pubs company Spirit Pub is holding its annual general meeting at which chief executive Ian Dyson will stand down, to be replaced by his deputy, Mike Tye.

The company, which was demerged from Punch Taverns in August, issued an upbeat set of full-year results back in October. Like-for-like sales at the group's managed pubs were up 5.2%, "consistently outperforming the market". Its leased pubs, which it is looking to get shot of, did not fare so well with like-for-like net income down 4.1%.
