Why food will cost you more in 2008

With demand from booming Asia rising and America using ever more corn to fuel its expanded ethanol programme, food is getting dearer, says Tim Bennett.

Why is Christmas dinner in the news?

Because it's getting more expensive. The British Retail Consortium says the cost of ingredients for a turkey and trimmings lunch is up around 14% on last year.

Tim graduated with a history degree from Cambridge University in 1989 and, after a year of travelling, joined the financial services firm Ernst and Young in 1990, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1994.
